Dear Mustang Families,
This week, we were able to take 250 of our amazing Mustangs on an incredible field trip to the Washington State History Museum and the University of Washington–Tacoma campus. The day was filled with learning about our state’s rich history, as all of these students are currently taking WA State History. In addition, there were inspiring moments as many students explored a college campus for the first time at UW-Tacoma. These experiences not only deepened their knowledge but also sparked curiosity and future aspirations.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to the 25+ chaperones who volunteered their time to make this day possible. Your support ensured that our students had a safe and meaningful experience, and we couldn’t have done it without you!
Looking ahead to next week, we’re excited to announce our upcoming ASB Winter Dance on Friday, December 13th. Tickets will be on sale for $2 in advance starting Monday and $5 at the door. We believe every student should have the chance to attend, so if cost is a concern, please don’t hesitate to email me at [email protected] for assistance.
Thank you all for a wonderful start to December,
Principal Brock
We understand that sometimes students need to be picked up early for appointments. Students must be signed out on the computer in the attendance window by a parent or other authorized person. Please bring your ID with you.
The student will be called for pickup once they are signed out. We value instructional time and are not able to have students waiting in the office. Thank you for keeping these things in mind when picking your student up early!

Mustang Sports Reports - 12/5/24

7th Grade Girls Basketball: The 7th grade JV team defeated Griffin with a score of 13-9. Penelope had an impressive performance on both ends of the court, contributing to the team's success, while Riley was the leading scorer.
In the varsity game, the team triumphed over Griffin with a score of 37-17. Despite playing without substitutes, the team worked together to find open shooters with effective passing. Evelyn led the scoring, and Emma G joined her in dominating the rebounding game.
8th Grade Girls Basketball: The 8th grade Lady Mustangs basketball teams played the Washington Bulldogs in their house last night.
The varsity Mustangs played a solid and talented Bulldogs team. Washington led the entire game and executed well on offense and defense. Our girls battled tough but could never get in a rhythm. Final score Washington 34-Marshall 11.
The JV lady Mustangs played much better and battled tough for 3 quarters but could never take the lead. But in the 4th quarter the girls erased a 6 point deficit to tie the game and take it into overtime, where the Mustangs took over and won the game 14-12. Way to go JV Lady Mustangs!
Last game of the season is Monday at Reeves against the Rams!

Community Connections presented by the OSD School Social Work Team
|
As winter sets in, it’s a fitting time to focus on both local resources and the broader theme of UniversalHuman Rights Month. This month offers a reminder of the shared rights and dignities that connect us all—rights to safety, health, and a supportive community. At this time of year, many families and youth face heightened challenges, from keeping warm to staying nourished, while others may simply be seeking ways to get involved or to make a difference. This month’s Community Connections highlights two key organizations dedicated to supporting the well-being and rights of young people in our community:
- Community Youth Services (CYS): CYS offers a broad range of services for young people in need, including emergency shelter, counseling, and support for youth experiencing homelessness. They focus on empowering youth by ensuring their rights to safety, stability, and self-advocacy, providing a crucial lifeline for those facing difficult circumstances.
- TOGETHER!: This nonprofit is committed to youth advocacy, with a strong emphasis on promoting health, education, and resilience. TOGETHER! provides resources for substance use prevention, mental health support, and youth development programs. Through their work, they strive to create a more equitable and healthy environment where every young person can thrive. Both of these organizations reflect the core values of Universal Human Rights Month, working to create a community where all youth have access to safety, support, and the chance to succeed. As we observe Universal Human Rights Month, let’s remember that supporting local youth and families strengthens our entire community.
Whether seeking resources, volunteering, or learning more, each of us can make a difference this winter. Wishing you warmth and connection this season.
Sincerely,
The OSD School Social Work Team
