MMR Vaccine Resources

Thurston County Public Health & Social Services is sharing this important resource: Measles Information & MMR Vaccine Resources Flyer (TC) to help parents understand the benefits of the MMR vaccine and how it protects children from measles, mumps, and rubella. Community Connections presented by the

OSD School Social Work Team

As we enter the month of April, we reflect on important themes that focus on growth, well-being, and community. This month, we recognize Autism Acceptance Month and raise awareness for Stress Awareness Month. These themes provide an opportunity to support one another, embrace diversity, and prioritize mental and emotional health.

Autism Acceptance Month 🌈
April is Autism Acceptance Month, a time to move from awareness to full acceptance
and celebration of neurodiversity. It’s a reminder of the importance of fostering
inclusive spaces where individuals with autism are respected and supported.
Resources:
● The Autism Society of Washington offers support groups, resources, and advocacy for individuals and families.
● Olympia Schools Supportive Education Council is a collective of caregivers,
teachers, & staff advocating for OSD students receiving support services.
● Autism Acres is a nonprofit that is dedicated to providing a free, safe, and
comfortable play environment for people and families who are impacted by
special needs.
● South Sound Parent to Parent is a nonprofit supporting parents of children
with a disability and professionals who work with them.

Stress Awareness Month 😌
April is also Stress Awareness Month, a time to recognize how stress impacts our
physical and mental health. Learning to manage stress is essential for maintaining
overall well-being, and it’s important to seek support when needed.
Resources:
● The Crisis Clinic of Thurston/Mason Counties offers immediate support for
individuals experiencing stress, anxiety, or crisis situations. Website
● The American Heart Association has a Healthy for Good program with tips on
how to stress less.

Early pick-up procedure

A couple of reminders when picking up your student early:
You do not need to call the office ahead of time. Attendance will be adjusted at the end of the day for students who leave early. Please come to the attendance window to sign the student out. We will call them from class at that time. We are not able to call students down early or at a specific time, as it often results in substantial minutes missed from class. Please have your ID ready if asked. Thank you for keeping these things in mind and helping us ensure the safety of our students and accurate attendance reporting.
